LEO POWER is the staked form of the LEO token on the Hive blockchain. When LEO is staked as LEO POWER, you earn rewards and gain access to powerful features on the LeoFinance.io and LeoMobile social media app.

First and foremost, staking LEO into LEO POWER will grant you access to rewards that are paid out in liquid LEO as well as added to your LEO POWER balance.

LeoFinance.io has ad partnerships to display ads on the UI. These ads are seen by the core community as well as the hundreds of thousands of unique external views that LeoFinance gets on a monthly basis.

These ads drive in Ad revenue to the LeoFinance Ad Protocol, paid in the form of Bitcoin (BTC). The protocol uses this BTC to purchase LEO and then deposit it into the LeoAds pool each month.
The LeoAds pool then pays out an equal percentage of the rewards to every user who is staking LEO as LEO POWER on their https://leofinance.io wallet.
Current Staking Rewards APY is Roughly 4-10% Annually.

Staking rewards are accumulated by anyone who is holding LEO as LEO POWER in their wallet. Curation Rewards are earned through active participation in the https://leofinance.io platform. 
Both rewards can be earned simultaneously, one does not take away from the other. In fact, the staking rewards you earn are directly related to the engagement on https://leofinance.io. More engagement = more traffic which in turn leads to more ad revenue which means more LEO is bought and distributed to the LeoAds Staking Rewards Pool. 
This means that Curation Rewards and Staking Rewards have a symbiotic relationship. We designed our tokenomics in this way to radically improve the game theory of LeoFinance social engagement. 
With this symbiotic relationship, users are incentivized twice-over to do the right thing. They're incentivized to encourage authors to write great content and to encourage readers to engage with that content and leave thought-provoking comments. Curators encourage this activity by using their LEO POWER to upvote posts and comments on the platform.
Upvotes distribute rewards from the daily LEO rewards pool (separate from the LeoAds Rewards Pool). The amount of LEO POWER you have staked dictates your influence on the rewards pool. The more LEO POWER that you hold, the greater the value of your upvote.
Upvoting content does not "cost" you anything. It does not remove any tokens from your wallet. Instead, it uses your Voting Power (VP) to distribute rewards from the daily rewards pool. Your Voting Power is constantly recharging at a rate of 20% per day. 
For example, if you vote content until your voting power reaches 79%, then you will be at 99% voting power exactly 24 hours later.

Importantly, your VP also dictates how strong your particular vote is. If your VP is all the way down at 70%, it will be less effective than if it was at 90%. This creates a sort of game theory where users want to ensure their Voting Power never reaches 100% (as every second at 100% = lost opportunity to vote) but they also want to ensure that they aren't driving their Voting Power all the way down to 40% because that would mean that each vote is less powerful. 
We've analyzed best practices for daily active users vote continuously a few times per day and always keep their VP between 90% and 98%.
